Reinstating and relocating stone walls
Reinstating and relocating stone walls for the M8/M74 road improvements project. The project involved stripping down random rubble stone walls. We cleaned the random rubble stones and set aside for re-use. Once the new road had been built, we were tasked with relocating and reinstating a stone random rubble wall. The stone walls were built using natural hydraulic lime mortar to ensure longevity and to prevent cracking due to movement/settlement. We also sourced matching sandstone to make up any shortfall. We supplied and installed coping stones – these were sourced and hand cut to match the existing cope profile. We carried out further restoration to walls that were being retained and not reinstated.
